Technique Tip of the Week: CROSS TRAIN
As the 2012 competition and performance season comes to a close, it’s important to use this time to prepare for next year! Often dancers wait until they are selected to compete/perform to start putting the work in, but I encourage you to use this time to develop and grow. The 2013 performance opportunity will just be the icing!
Listed below are some ideas to help expand your dance repertoire.
Take a stretch class once per week to increase flexibility.
Develop the muscles that support your pole movement with a strength, conditioning or sculpting class.
NEW DANCE STYLE
Learn a new dance style to make your non-pole movement more innovative and dynamic!
This acrobatic approach to pole will provide a new spin for your current tricks and transitions!
There are HUNDREDS of other ways to cross train during the off season. If these resources are not available for you, then plan a trip! The Choreography House Instructors and Students are traveling to Las Vegas to train with various performers from Cirque du Soliel to expand our dance repertoire. This retreat is open to the public and scheduled over the weekend of December 14th-16th. Join us! For more information, visit: https://thechoreographyhouse.com/2012/11/07/vegas-retreat/
Ultimately, do whatever interests YOU! The most important thing is to keep growing!
